Japan, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Greece, and Portugal are examples of aging societies. These countries often have low birth rates and long life expectancy.
A young country needs schools and jobs. An older country needs healthcare, pensions, caregivers, and workers to support retirees. Age structure changes what governments must build.
