Not every wonder was built by people. The Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Victoria Falls, Mount Everest, the Amazon Rainforest, and the Northern Lights are famous because nature made them extraordinary.
A place becomes a "bucket list" wonder when it is rare, beautiful, old, difficult to build, difficult to reach, or connected to a powerful story. A wonder is not just a place. It is a place people talk about for generations.
Too many visitors can damage famous places. Pollution, crowds, climate change, and careless behavior can hurt the very places people came to admire. Tourism can protect places, but only if managed well.
The Great Wall protected Chinese states and dynasties over many centuries. Machu Picchu was an Inca city high in the Andes. Both are famous because geography helped shape their history.
