Migration means people moving from one place to another. It can be inside a country or across borders. It can be temporary, permanent, voluntary, or forced.

Push factors make people leave: war, poverty, disasters, lack of jobs, persecution, or climate stress. Pull factors attract people: safety, jobs, schools, family, freedom, and opportunity.
Many migrants move from rural areas to cities. Cities offer work, education, healthcare, and possibility, but rapid growth can create housing and infrastructure problems.
Refugees are people forced to leave because of danger such as war or persecution. Asylum seekers ask another country for protection. These words have legal meanings.
Migrants often send money back to family. This money is called remittances. In some countries, remittances are a major part of the economy.
Food, music, language, sports, religion, business, and neighborhoods all change when people move. Migration is one reason cities become culturally rich.
